Administrative Assistant Posted Mar 09
The Public Interest Network , Denver, CO
The Executive Office of The Public Interest Network seeks an Administrative Assistant. We are looking for a smart, committed, and detail-oriented candidate to join our team to assist the President and Vice Presidents in managing the daily operations of the organization and in long-term planning.

The Public Interest Network is home to more than 16 organizations, including PIRG, Environment America, Green Corps, and the National Environmental Law Center. Each of our groups pursues its own mission, whether it’s environmental litigation, consumer advocacy, research, or training new organizers, while the force of our combined strategies builds pressure for change across the political and economic spectrum. The 400-plus staff in our network share a vision of a better country, a set of core values about our work, and a coordinated strategic approach to getting things done.

We also share a great track record. Over the past 45 years, our staff have worked on hundreds of projects and campaigns at the local, state, national, and corporate levels. Because of the laws and other policies we’ve won, people are buying healthier and safer products, getting more of our energy from the sun and the wind, and drinking cleaner water and breathing cleaner air.

In order to achieve these results, the groups in The Public Interest Network need a strong backup staff to provide the resources, guidance, and infrastructure it takes to make progress on these issues, which is where a new Administrative Assistant comes in.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the President and Vice Presidents of The Public Interest Network and provide operations support to groups nationwide. Representative responsibilities include:

Staff Support: Ensure that the President, Vice Presidents, and other senior staff have the resources they need to meet deadlines and goals. You will coordinate projects and schedules, create and maintain systems for tracking work, and maintain organizational files and records.
Communications: Coordinate internal communication between staff including internal email updates, conference calls, and meetings.
Event Logistics: The Public Interest Network hosts a range of events each year including staff retreats, campaign activities, trainings, and Board meetings. The Administrative Assistant is at the forefront of planning and organizing these events.

Applicants must be goal-driven and sharp, with a track record of exercising independent judgment and discretion to solve problems. Top candidates will be driven by the idea of building a non-profit organization, have an outstanding work ethic, and the maturity to manage confidential and/or sensitive information. Candidates must be able to make a two-year commitment to the position.

Compensation & Benefits

Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has. The Public Interest Network offers a competitive benefits package. We also offer an excellent training program and opportunities for advancement.

The Executive Office of The Public Interest Network is in Denver, CO. Regular travel to cities across the United States is required for the position. You may spend up to forty percent of your time traveling, with trips lasting anywhere from two days to two weeks.
