The City of Flagstaff Open Space Program is looking to hire a full time AmeriCorps VISTA position for a one-year term as the Events and Outreach Coordinator. This position is under the Flagstaff STEM Education VISTA Project. The individual will assist with open space and watchable wildlife related-projects within the Flagstaff community to engage underrepresented youth in STEM education.

- Coordinate with local groups to organize volunteer events, stewardship projects, and educational programs on legally designated open space properties.
- Develop and maintain educational and outreach materials for the Open Space Program and Arizona Watchable Wildlife Experience.
- Promote and publicize the Open Space Program and Arizona Watchable Wildlife Experience.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a background in the natural sciences, history, public recreation, and/or communications fields; enjoy working with the public; and demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions, work independently, and meet deadlines. Experience with website and graphic design is preferred.
Requirements: One year of experience in resource conservation and/or outreach practices. One year project coordinator experience. One year supervisory volunteer management experience. This is an AmeroCorps VISTA position with standard work hours, although some weekends may be required.
