An experienced individual is needed to lead a small field crew in data collection for research projects in the fields of forest ecology and wildfire science. Work and responsibilities will vary throughout the season, but most projects involve the installation or measurement of long-term stem-mapped plots. The crew leader must be able to independently manage the efficient instillation of these permanent plots after being trained on the methods and protocols. Housing will be provided while working at field sites in Idaho, South Dakota, Colorado, and Arizona. Stays at each location will range from 2-6 weeks.


Demonstrated ability to independently lead a field crew
Experience with common forest sampling techniques and equipment
Experience installing stem maps is a plus
Ability to stay for extended trips in remote work locations and carry gear across rough terrain
Valid U.S. Drivers License
Must pass a criminal background check
Pay is $15/hr
