Oak Creek Watershed Council needs you!
Come work along the creek all summer long! We are looking for passionate individuals who strive for doing their all for preserving natural resources and want to help us protect the highly popular Oak Creek in Sedona, AZ.
Duties vary: Must be friendly and sociable, able to guide volunteers in the the canyon for clean up events, talk to the public about leave no trace ethics, discuss the importance of protecting water sources, and have good voice for social media outreach. Must be able to hike a few miles a day in hot conditions in rough terrain. Familiarity with native plant, aquatic, and wildlife species a plus!
Opportunity to learn water quality sampling measures, data entry, wildlife surveying, and field experience all very likely!
Gas reimbursement for travel to Sedona provided, although employee must reside in the Verde Valley/Flagstaff area.
Looking for 1 intern and 1 ambassador with environmental science/forestry/hydrology or other similar background.
Intern will get $1,000 stipend for completing 150 hours and can have internship meet capstone requirements. Interns typically work 2-3 days a week depending on how long internship span is desired. Previous experience not needed.
Ambassador: more responsibilities and will have opportunity to work in Fossil Creek/Sedona ~20-25 hours a week, $15/hr. Must be comfortable with driving large vehicles and have an active drivers license/good driving record. Must be willing to camp for 1-2 days at a time a week.
Must be able to start by May 14th.
