Protect our Public Lands - Environment Arizona Organizer

From the Grand Canyon to the George Washington National Forest, our parks, forests, and public lands are a big part of what makes this country so great. They’re where we go to spend time outdoors with our families and friends, to hike, bike, fish and see wild animals. But these areas are under attack. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has recommended that President Donald Trump eliminate parts of four national monuments, including Bears Ears National Monument in Utah, and open six other national monuments to commercial industry that threatens the land, water and wildlife.

We need to build public support, especially in the west where most of our large national monuments ares. Our decision-makers are hearing from commercial interests, they need to hear from us. That’s where Impact comes in. We are hiring one organizer to start immediately, building the public support and getting the media attention we need to keep our special places protected. Our campaign in Arizona will be on behalf of Environment Arizona and will be focused on protecting the Sonoran Desert National Monument and the Ironwood Forest National Monument.

The position is based in our Phoenix office. Responsibilities include building grassroots support by collecting petitions and organizing education and action events to help people understand how important our public lands are.

Dates: Jan 30 - April 30, 2018

Impact is a team of organizers, working on behalf of groups like PIRG and Environment America. With Impact, you’ll go to the places that can decide whether we win or lose a campaign. And by engaging the media, building new coalitions, and activating civic leaders or student activists, you’ll set the stage for winning the next campaign. One district, one state at a time, Impact aims to move the dial in American politics in a positive direction. During the summer, you’ll direct a campaign office, building the organization by canvassing and training others to canvass. And you’ll recruit the next wave of Impact organizers and interns so we can continue to work on more campaigns.
